About the Artist

I am an artist and primary school teacher based in Central QLD.  My artwork is influenced by my love of colour and nature and wanting to express my feelings about the beauty of the environment.  The local environment here in Central QLD and in other places I have lived such as Kakadu National Park and The Pilbara in W.A. have all contributed to my style and designs.

I was very fortunate to win the local Gladstone ‘Martin Hanson Local Artist Award’ in 2008 and the ‘Martin Hanson QAL People’s Choice Award’ for works on paper in 2018.  Over the years I have been grateful to have attended various creative workshops including making watercolours from pigments in Tokyo, to watercolour lessons in Taiwan, as well as learning from other local artists in Central QLD.  For the past few years, I have been part of a community gallery in Tannum Sands, ‘Ocean Breeze Gallery’ where I display and sell my artwork.

I love to teach art to school students whenever I get the opportunity and love to inspire creativity in them and increase their confidence in their artistic abilities.

As an extension of my love of language learning, including Indonesian, Thai and Japanese languages, and over 20 years of language teaching I have recently designed a collection of Japanese language jigsaw puzzles as a resource for teachers and students.

I am always looking for ways to create new and interesting ways of expressing my creativity and love to see the enjoyment people get from my colourful designs.
